I decided to start my web journal over.  Thanks to my good friend Sharon for telling me about the web journal service at bravenet.com.  I have a busy night at work ahead of me.  It doesn't help that I had to patch my workshirt in two places.  Thank goodness for iron on patches in white!  So I spent $1.47 to fix my shirt instead of $14 on a new shirt.  This shirt has lasted me five weeks.  It is almost classified as an antique!  Well my mood is pretty stable today.  I remembered to take my Bipolar medicines on time.  Well I will write more after work.  Please feel free to comment on any posts.  Again, thank you Sharon.

I too have experienced challenges in finding the correct medications. I don't want a combo so strong that I lose my alertness or get other unpleasant side effects. Weight gain is something that has hit my life post meds. I now have 1 anti-psychotic (seroquel) weak morning dose and stronger night dose (gets me to sleep!). I take also lithium and thyroid pills. NB: get thyroid checked, effects mood and metabolism. The bottom line is meds are an aid, working on stress management and building a worthwhile life are just as vital for stability. I have long stable periods between infrequent lengthy hospitalizations.Always hope that I have seen the last of those!

Just wanted to say: I used to work overnight shifts like you said you were doing(7pm-7am). This did not last long, soon I was commuting back in a high. Yet there were other stress factors. Still the body, especially the manic mind, needs sleep and sleep at night is of the highest quality.

I used to work overnights. I have found that I no longer can work overnights. It messes with my medication. I take paxil,risperdal, seroquel and lamictal. I love this combination but one of the four meds is making me gain weight. Thank you for writing on my board. It took us five years to find the right med combination for me. I am an ultra rapid cycler. I still have breakthrough depression but it is nothing I can't handle because I recognize the signs early on. I now see a therapist. As a matter of fact I need to go in five minutes so I won't be late. I am terrible about keeping appts. I have missed the last 3 tdoc appts. So i stayed awake all night just so i won't miss this one. Nice to hear from you and post often.
